Happy Forth of July

Whew! The summer is flying by! Hard to believe that it is already July and that we will be watching fireworks tonight. As I sit a reflect back on June I am astonished at the accomplishments that my family and I have made this past month.

To start, my boys are trying veggies at dinner with my husband and I. The are doing very well with this challenge. They have even learned that they like green beans and snap peas and fresh spinach out of the garden.

I couldn’t be more proud of my husband either. He decided to let me expand our gym membership to the family plan, not only for the boys to take swim lessons but to help him get to the gym. He has done so well so far. He has made it to the gym 3-4 times each week at a minimum. The kicker…he is enjoying it! He has lost weight around his waist and has noticed his shorts that we bought in May are too big now. His weight is down 5 pounds and he feels that he has gotten out of his rut.

As for me, I still am addicted to working out. I still go to the gym at least 4-5 times a week, but I have added swimming and personal training with a Pilates Reformer. I love the Reformer!!! I feel so strong and I have noticed my core getting stronger. My clothes are fitting better than they have even since before I became pregnant with my boys. Not to mention I have more energy and can keep up with my two active 4 year old boys!

I hope you are finding your groove and continue to work on your goals. Give it time and you’ll start to notice results too!

The Journey Begins

I have been toying with the idea of a blog for some time. It came to me the other night while on a favorite “mom” website. Combine my new passion for exercise and  cooking with my LOVE for health promotion. But what makes me different from the other “mommy bloggers”? I’m a mom of 4 1/2 year old twin boys and a part-time Emergency Room Nurse who realized she needed to change her eating habits as well as her families. By sharing our journey I am hoping to spark awareness to other families about how important a healthy lifestyle is and how everyone benefits. Hopefully some of you will join me.

I am excited to try new healthy recipes and review them for you. I’ll blog about exercise and how to squeeze in time every week and even everyday. I’ll cover some common ailments and ways to fight back. My goal is to become healthier as a whole: mind, body, soul.

So please, join me as we work together through the ups and downs (hopefully more ups than downs). Expect posts at least weekly to start, increasing to twice a week or more depending on topic needs.
